What does our name AKTTEM mean?

Thoughtful design improves people’s lives and drive active change in society and our shared future is our core belief.

Our name AKTTEM reflects on it by combining the German word „aktiv“ (meaning active) with the English word „item“.

Verena Hennig,
Founder of AKTTEM

Founder of AKTTEM, Verena Hennig is an internationally working Executive Creative Director and Design Entrepreneur from Germany. Hennig studied Graphic Design / Visual Communication (MA) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and founded her design studio in 2011 and AKTTEM in 2017, both companies merged in 2021.

She worked for GOOGLE, SIEMENS, Stefan Sagmeister in New York, as well as architecture studio PERNILLA OHRSTEDT STUDIO in London.

Hennigs' work has won numerous international design awards , she was named one of the ADC YOUNG GUNS 2017, TOP 50 BEST GERMAN DESIGNERS in 2016 by ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST. 2024

Our Roll Collection has been added to the esteemed collection of Die Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum (Pinakothek der Moderne) in Munich.

As one of the world’s oldest design museum, Die Neue Sammlung houses one of the largest design collections, covering more than 20 disciplines from product, industrial and furniture design to mobility and IT design. We are honored to be included.
