What does our name AKTTEM mean?

We believe intelligent design enhances peoples lives and drive active change to society and our future. With every item and project we design, we challenge the existing to create a more sustainable and equal future.

The name AKTTEM represents this core believe and combines the German word „aktiv“, translating to active, and the English word „item“.

Verena Hennig,
Founder of AKTTEM

Founder of AKTTEM, Verena Hennig is an internationally working Executive Creative Director and Design Entrepreneur from Germany. Hennig studied Graphic Design / Visual Communication (MA) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and founded her design studio in 2011 and AKTTEM in 2017, both companies merged in 2021.

She worked for GOOGLE Creative Lab London, design agency SAGMEISTER Inc in New York, publishing house SÜDDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG as well as architecture studio PERNILLA OHRSTEDT STUDIO in London.

Hennigs' work has won numerous international design awards , she was named one of the ADC YOUNG GUNS 2017, TOP 50 BEST GERMAN DESIGNERS in 2016 by ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST and were nominated for the GERMAN DESIGN AWARD NEWCOMER AWARD 2016.
